I’m not here to criticize my friends or Nokia or my friends at Nokia. Nor do I want to pressure them. But I haven’t seen all that many people on Ovi Chat. I know what you’re going to say, I don’t need another IM ID. Well I know lots of people who signed up for Ovi Chat so they have an ID. The question is why didn’t they add it to Adium or any other IM app. It would be quite easy to.
Is Nokia planning on doing much with Ovi Chat? I get the feeling the answer is yes. I think we will see a great deal done with presence over the next few months and years. I think the N97 will play a large roll in this too.
Back to my point, where are all the people? Why aren’t more Nokia folks on Ovi chat as well? I only know of a few that I’m connected to. Maybe there are many more but I have used the search tool and not found many. Shouldn’t Nokia folks be using it? Is Nokia using it internally for instant communications? I get the feeling the answer is NO and I’m wondering why.
By the way, what’s up with the name, Ovi Contacts? Shouldn’t it be Ovi IM or something like that?
Anyways, the Ovi Contacts (IM) integration on the new E75 I’ve been reviewing is fantastic, I hope we see an update for many of the handsets and I hope it is included/implemented on many of the new handsets.
I’m logged in all day, every day, since I set it up on Digsby – however, I think therein lies the major problem – it’s not super easy to set up on a desktop client, and requires more steps than just the installation and login.
However, your point that there aren’t any Nokians on there is interesting. I would imagine…..that they *are* using it internally, but that they’re also using it maybe on a private server or something. I’d guess that having them publicly available would get to be a bit of a nightmare, for sure.
I also agree that they’ve got some big, big plans (I don’t know any of them, just guessing here), and that we’ll see that soon.

You are one of the few people who are on all the time. There are a few more but I don’t want to name names. I’m kind of surprised though that some of the people we are in touch with regularly from Nokia aren’t using Ovi IM.
I’ve only gotten really into it since I got the E75 because it’s on the home Screen. I made it one of my shortcuts on my E71 but I wish there was a plug in similar to that of the E75 for the home screen of the E71.
Posted by Jeb Brilliant | April 16, 2009, 3:53 pmIf there was an easier way to integrate it into my current services then I guess I’d probably use it more…
Y’know something like: “Import GTalk Contacts”
That might make it easier; work *with* other products, not against…

Posted by akasoulben | November 9, 2009, 8:07 pmI’m using it daily with my girlfriend. Though it seems we are the only two on the planet.
Nowadays everyone uses iphone or blackberry.
They shoud add ive messenger support. Thats teh biggest im in the netherlands because its not account limited, for instance, i dont have hotmail or live mail, but i approved my own email from my private server for use on msn.
Domnt now why theres a hype on all those other im clients. msn rules. In order to make ovi worthy using they should integrate several clients in it. like skype or something?
greetings from haarlem, noddinmusic@ovi.com
